Hotels are the target of US-based Russound's Collage music and intercom system, which launched at ISE 2010 exhibition in Amsterdam.
The system uses a building's electrical system to power the device, which enables users to choose from three streams of digital music from a LAN, or online music sources.
Its Powerline Carrier technology establishes an IP data network over a residential electrical system.
Speaking at ISE, Russound's vice president Richard Hirshkind told AV that the product will be distributed throughout Europe in four months time.
"The system is unique because it is retro-fittable and has a magnetic clip," he added.
