Following the launch of its MicroTile at ISE 2010, Christie's chief technology officer Bobby Rushby spoke to AV about the price and future uses for the product.
Designed for digital signage and creative use, the MicroTile will come in at 3,300 Euros per unit, with discounts on orders of over 50 products.
Rushby said the price works out cheaper than a 4mm LED equivalent per half metre, adding that the tiles will fit into JC Decaux's advertising standard size,
He went on to reveal that the products have already been used in the US broadcasting market, with an appearance on comedy show, The Colbert Report.
"There are a huge amount of creative uses for the tiles," said Rushby "Each unit communicates to the next one, meaning minimal knowledge is needed in installation."
"The colour matching in the product will make the tiles popular with brands. They are also easy to maintain, and can be serviced in 15 minutes."
As revealed last month, the MicroTile is an LED/DLP-based system designed for long commercial use in public areas, with no lamps or other consumable parts to replace.
