View from Infocomm: Stuart Holmes

Infocomm returned to Vegas this year, which always bodes well for the buzz around the show. In my view, it didn't seem to suffer from what looked like a slight drop in visitor figures.

The annual Infocomm show seems to be hopping between Florida and Las Vegas these days. Last year's event can be best described as a deserted Disneyland ghost train, so it was great to see a few more visitors this time around. There seemed to be a lot more optimism in the air this year and a lot of new innovation both on show and behind closed doors.

In spite of the press releases that "Infocomm 2010 was the busiest ever", the show seemed quieter this year. To add insult to injury, during the show there was a press release announcing that ISE 2011 was sold out and had expanded to an additional hall! I suspect that the thought of a week in Las Vegas for their sales team was too much for many of the European accountants. The presence from Europe may have been far worse but for C2000 inviting a jumbo jet full of European dealers.

Keith Watson has joined Integrated Systems Events board of directors. Watson, who is marketing director - mixing for Harman's mixer business, Soundcraft Studer, replaces Tim Penn of AMX, whose three-year term expired last month. Penn will retain direct involvement with ISE by remaining on its Advisory Committee.
