Addressing growing demand for enterprise video and telepresence solutions, Polycom, announced the Polycom Converged Management Application (CMA). It's been designed to simplify the deployment and management of enterprise video networks and the use of desktop, group and telepresence solutions for users. A key component of the solution is CMA Desktop. The desktop video application is capable of supporting high definition (HD) video, voice and content while scaling to thousands of users across an organisation.

According to the company, CMA, makes it easier for IT managers to deploy and manage enterprise video networks. It also allows individual employees to use a wider range of different features that come with their desktop video conferencing. The product includes an integrated desktop video application which supports HD video, voice and content that is suitable for just one or up to 10, 000 users at a time (it offers scalable video collaboration)

A second launch from Polycom, aimed at smaller groups, is the RMX 1000. The unit enables SMEs and branch offices to enjoy the same features and benefits of video conferencing and telepresence that large companies enjoy. It is offers high-performance video communications and supporting HD, separating voices when multiple parties speak simultaneously and allowing content sharing.
Complementing the existing RMX 2000 for medium and large enterprise networks, the RMX 1000 enables on-demand video collaboration supporting multiple sites in the same calls with UltimateHD - high definition video, voice and multimedia content sharing capabilities.
‘The use of visual communication is growing because it effectively addresses major collaboration issues inherent to distributed, enterprise organisations as well as critical business challenges driven by globalisation, socio-economic factors and the move toward more environmentally sustainable business practices,' said Joe Sigrist, senior vice president and general manager of video solutions at Polycom. ‘Our customers are looking to deploy video more broadly across their organisations from telepresence rooms to mass scale desktop video collaboration. The RMX 1000 supports this as part of Polycom's comprehensive solution portfolio for visual communication.'
