Panasonic has integrated its plasma and projector businesses into one unit, under the name Professional Projectors and Displays Europe (PPDE). In a statement to the press the company says it has taken this action to give Panasonic's customers a single point of reference for all displays technology.
Panasonic's professional plasma and projector technology divisions were previously organised into two separate business units for each product set. As more of Panasonic's customers show increasing levels of interest in all display product lines, Panasonic has taken this step to offer a single point of reference and to simplify the customer interface with the company.
The newly established PPDE business unit will be led by Jerome Berrard, previously head of the projector division.
'We are seeing many of our key customers adopting both our plasma and projector products, so the integration of these two product sets is a logical reflection of market dynamics,' says Jerome Berrard, head of PPDE business unit. 'The industry needs this level of service from us to meet the requirements of a changing AV climate, especially in vertical sectors such as higher education, public display and digital signage.'
The PPDE business unit also plans to increase its support for its reseller community and strengthen the value-add for its customers.
