Sony has launched it's first product to feature a built-in touchscreen OLED screen, the X Series Walkman also features digital noise cancelling technology.
The 3in widescreen OLED touchscreen has a display resolution of 432 x 240 dots. The touchscreen's 'Scene Scroll' function speeds up the way users can find specific scenes within a video.
The only other OLED product current available from Sony (the XEL-1) is a 7in screen, which retails for around £3,500.
No further plans for OLED products have been announced at present. As revealed to AV in March the high development costs for OLED means Sony are looking to other manufacturers to partner with them to share the burden of developing the technology further, before they expand their OLED product range beyond 7in screen sizes. So the corporate marketplace may have to wait some time before we see OLED digital signage for example.
