In news that will surprise very few in the industry global sales of projectors have witnessed a very poor first half of 2009, with global Q2 volumes down 16 per cent year-on-year drop from Q2 2008. It is not all doom and gloom for projector manufacturers and resellers however as a report called 'The Future of Projector Technologies', published by Futuresource Consulting, does predict sales of LED, W-XGA and pico projectors will continue to rise to help see the second half of the year improve on the first.
Short-throw projectors are also another area of growth, and now represent 10 per cent of the market.
The W-XGA category reached six per cent in Q2 2009, representing 130 per cent year-on-year growth.
