Videoconferencing manufacturer Tandberg has announced it has expanded its relationship with Siemens to a Global Resale Agreement, which will see Siemens 'place a strong emphasis on mass adoption of video as a part of a complete unified communications platform.'

The expanded Siemens/Tandberg relationship spans both sales and product development. Siemens will offer customers Tandberg products supported by its own managed service and they will provide a dedicated, 24x7 maintenance and technical helpdesk to strengthen the managed service offering.

Siemens has certified Tandberg MCUs as fully interoperable with its OpenScape Unified Communications (UC) Server, a unified communications software platform that is designed to remove the artificial legacy barriers between today’s traditionally separate voice, video and UC systems to support a suite of UC applications.

'Delivering video to the desktop is a key part of our unified communications vision and together with Tandberg we will make it easier for our customers to reduce travel costs and increase productivity,' said Gerald Kromer, senior vice president professional services & solutions at Siemens Enterprise Communications. 'As we grow our ecosystem, working with Tandberg enables us to continue to deliver on our Open Communications commitment and offer a full range of integrated video solutions that meet our customers’ needs.'
